Overview

The plan was to move all of the University departments onto one site, thus generating a compact campus. This required 36 of the teaching and leacture rooms to be fitted with audio-visual systems for lecture enrichment. The audio-visual contract was for rooms of differing sizes to be integrated with a mixture of products, dependent on size and usage.

Some of the technologies and skillsets used

  • Large whiteboards
  • SVGA PC Input ports
  • Lecterns with built in Visualisers
  • Flush-mounted ceiling speakers
  • Playback of DVD, CD and VHS media
  • Plasma Information Screens
  • Full boundary and radio microphone systems with sound re-inforcement
  • Electric Screens (dependent on room size)
  • Secured wall racks (for equipment)
  • Touch Screen control systems
  • Induction loop systems (Hard of hearing)
  • LCD Projectors with security alarms
  • Mobile Plasma conference room systems

Planning

The implementation of a strong project management ethos was required. This was mainly due to the property being a listed building and great care was required in the implentation of the project. As with all projects, building delays occur. This was a challenge to our installation team to facilitate lectures round the integration plan. All fittings to the main structure had to be approved by the authorities along with the delays, inherent in a project such as this.

Design approach

First Choice Solutions takes great pride in designing and implementing such projects. This enables each project to be designed with the client to ensure the optimum result. Obviously this can only be achieved with experience and a vast knowledge bank held within FCS.

Implementation

The FCS system ensures that the installation teams are supported from the office base, thus providing continuity and progressive stock deliveries as and when required.

The Digby Stuart Chapel

“The Digby Stuart Chapel” has been converted into a teaching and lecture theatre.

The Chapel will now hold up to 300 people and a Panasonic  PTD5000 projector together with a electric 3m screens has been installed.

A comprehensive JBL sound systems was designed to overcome the sound acoustic issues that where apparent in a Chapel environment.

A Teammate trainer fully loaded with an Extron Medialink offer a lecturer full control of all the A/V facilities.

Bob Cates, the maintenance manager at Roehampton complemented the companies engineers.

“A very professional installation, and FCS engineers are obviously very well qualified and experienced in this type of project”.
